Dear Incarnation Camp families,
Below you can learn about (and reach out to) our truly dedicated year round staff members who work diligently throughout our off season in order to prepare all the different pieces needed for all of the fun that is had for 8 short weeks during the summer!
A Brooklyn Native, Jarrett has been coming to our sleepaway Camp program since 2003. He started his staff journey in 2011 as a Music Assistant, he then graduated into a Counselor’s Assistant in 2012 and in the years following he ascended to counselor, Unit Director, Junior Staff Coordinator and currently Assistant Camp Director. Jarrett lives on the property year-round with his dog, cat, and partner Sam. Outside of Camp, Jarrett is a musician. He has a BA in Music from American University and a MFA in Musical Theater Writing from New York University.
Derek Edwards, a dedicated physical education teacher and athletic director, has been with Incarnation Camp for over 30 years! Derek's roots span from Pittsburgh to New York. As Program Director, Derek is passionate about mentoring, Derek actively engages with camp alumni and directs activities during summers, accruing Red Cross certifications. Beyond camp life, his interests encompass reading, athletics, and outdoor adventures. Derek resides in Washington, DC, making a lasting impact as a teacher. His commitment epitomizes camp's ethos, with his daughter's participation reflecting his enduring dedication within the Incarnation Camp community.
Originally from Connecticut, Monique started with Incarnation in 2007 as a woodlands camper and has been here ever since. Since then, she has been lucky enough to work in various positions across the overnight camp, both in Pioneer Village and our overnight program. Monique lives on property during the year and loves hiking around and exploring the property during the off-season. So far, her favorite season here has been fall! Monique is currently completing her MJ in Children’s Law and Policy online through Loyola Chicago School of Law. She looks forward to using her degree to elevate and empower youth voices.
Mary began attending Incarnation Camp in 2010, and in the years following has been a camper, a junior staff member, a counselor, as well as unit director, and is now a year round staff member as a Program Coordinator! In this role, Mary works with many programs the Incarnation Center offers across the different camp departments. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Mary enjoys getting out of the city, and working outdoors helping these programs provide fun and learning in a natural environment for children of all ages.
Joining camp in the summer of 2012, Carl's passion for camp life has taken him from counselor to Unit Director to Program Coordinator, and, finally, Pioneer Village Director. A true camp aficionado, Carl's love for camp runs so deep that he even found his life partner here while working together as Unit Directors of Reservation and Highlands. He now resides in New Haven, CT, with his wife and dedicates his off-season time to coaching high school lacrosse at Guilford HS, his alma mater. Carl's favorite activities at camp revolve around the lake, where he enjoys swimming, canoeing, and sailing.
Liam has been with us since 2007. He is originally from Leeds, England. During his time here he held various roles for the sleep-away program before moving into the role of Camp Director back in 2013. During his time as camp director, he has also run both of our day programs at various points. At the end of 2020 he transitioned into Director of Camp Programs, overseeing all camps under the organizational umbrella. Liam lives on the property with his wife, son, and many animals. His responsibilities include overseeing the day to day logistics of all camp programming, hiring new staff for our various programs, & coming up with new and innovative ideas to enrich our youth programming going forward.
A camp alum dating back to 1978, Nancy returned to Incarnation in 2003 as the Summer Camp Director. As the Executive Director she has overseen the building and completion of the Lakeside Chapel (2012), the new Maintenance Shop (2013), the Welcome Center (2013) and the Nature Center (2014). Her background includes an MA in Education Administration and a Ph.D in Sports Management. Nancy lives locally with her husband Denis, and children Cameron and Rowan.
